Stories, posts and reviews are modern memories of the holiday. And a few decades ago, vacationers understood how you can come back from vacation and not bring a postcard with you. Cardboard memory of a place that I managed to visit. Then the postcards were put into an album, so that later you could view and remember pleasant moments. Postcards with views of cities or countries, as a rule, adorn sights - temples, fortresses, factories, monuments, even memorable natural landscapes. Usually it was them that travelers brought from their trips.
On ethnographic postcards, one could meet representatives of different nationalities in traditional costumes for their country or region. From them it was even sometimes possible to track how their national clothes changed.
Greeting cards were dedicated to holidays, individual memorable events - "New Year", "April Day", "Easter". There are plenty of reasons to celebrate, so there are also a lot of postcards dedicated to them.
Postcards depicting monarchs and august persons were issued in countries with monarchical forms of government - the United Kingdom, the Kingdom of Sweden, the Kingdom of Jordan.
Militaria and politics were also reflected in postcards. Various types of troops, propaganda posters, cartoons. Even now, images of specific military companies are in demand among collectors.
Author's postcards were created in limited quantities. Their authors devoted a significant part of their creativity to creating drawings on postcards.
