Amber. Warm and gentle stone. But what is the value of this fossilized resin and what types of this mineral can cost tens of thousands of hryvnias?

If we talk about the price of amber products, then it is influenced by more than one factor. This is the degree of transparency - an opaque mineral is valued higher. There are several degrees - from transparent to bone. Cloudy ones contain more cavities, bastards resemble candied opaque honey.

This is the presence of inclusions or natural inclusions, that is, inclusions with air bubbles, cavities with water drops, fragments of plants or insects. As a rule, these are ants, mosquitoes, cicadas, butterflies and so on. They got into the resin and froze in it millions of years ago.

Also, the range of shades of amber can be very diverse. There are over a hundred titles. Golden, lemon, yellow. Rare colors are white, green, blue.

Large areas of extraction of amber of the traditional color are the southern parts of the Scandinavian Peninsula. Green and blue minerals are found only in the Dominican Republic. These are very transparent stones with a milky coating. Many countries of the world are considered to be deposits of white and yellow amber. Beautiful minerals are famous for the western and northern parts of Ukraine.

As for the form, uncut stones are most often found. But, despite their apparent untidiness, they are often used for jewelry. Restructured amber - pressed or molded stones are obtained by combining, pressing and melting natural minerals. From such amber, not only jewelry, but also decor items are created.

Amber is an amazing mineral and jewelry from it can please the eye for centuries, if we remember the time it has been stored in natural conditions. More than 2,000 active lots — amber products — are presented in section of the same name.
