Almost every corner of the world heard about the town in the Bavarian lands in the last few days. Such attention is due to an incredible find.

In the city of Nordlingen, before the construction of commercial real estate, an inspection was conducted and something so special was found that the news was spread by all German mass media, as well as authoritative international media.

Archaeologists have found burials from the Middle Bronze Age. During the excavations, the bodies of a woman, a man and a teenager were discovered (preliminarily). It is not yet known whether it was a family, scientists plan to find out.

Experts assume that either wealthy people or people with a high social status were buried in the grave, because many valuable bronze objects were found inside.

But the most important find is an extremely rare eight-sided sword. The experts were most impressed by the fact that the sword was preserved in almost perfect condition. Just think, lying underground for more than 3,000 years and keeping its natural shine. Impressive!

The head of the State Administration for the Protection of Monuments of Bavaria, Matthias Pfeil, says: "The state of preservation is exceptional! Such a find is very rare."

The sword is made of bronze. Marks are clearly visible on the weapon and the inlay is preserved. According to the data available today, it is known that the sword was made as a weapon, although there are no signs of combat. "The center of gravity at the front of the blade indicates a striking-oriented balance"
"Making octagonal swords is difficult because the hilt is cast over the blade."

Experts are waiting for work to establish the origin of a special find. Some have already assumed that the sword was brought to the north of Germany by a warrior from the south. Other scholars claim that the weapon could have been produced by a craftsman from Denmark or northern Germany. We are waiting for further research results.

The sword and the burial still need to be examined so that our archaeologists can more accurately classify this find. But we can already say: the state of preservation is extraordinary! Such a find is very rare," says Mathias Pfeil.
