During the Russian shelling of the Ukrainian capital on the morning of March 25, rocket fragments partially destroyed the building of the Kyiv State Academy of Decorative and Applied Arts and Design named after Mykhailo Boychuk. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy.

"The central part of the building was destroyed. In particular, the gymnasium, congress hall and exhibition center were completely destroyed," the Ministry said. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, but according to preliminary information, two people were injured, including the head of the academy's laboratory, who was hospitalized.

One of the teachers of the educational institution, Myroslav Vayda, said that at the time of the attack he was teaching painting classes to freshmen. He showed what happened to the classroom after the missile attack.

"This is how the 45th studio, where I used to teach painting to freshmen, looks like from the inside. At that moment, non-humans shot at the Mykhailo Boichuk Academy of Decorative and Applied Arts and Design. We were saved by a miracle and the fact that we managed to fall to the floor in time," the artist wrote on his Facebook page.
Ukrainian monumentalist Mykhailo Boichuk, whose name the academy bears, is a representative of the Executed Renaissance. In November 1936, Boychuk, along with two students, Ivan Padalka and Vasyl Sedliar, were arrested and accused of "espionage" and participation in a "counterrevolutionary organization," and in July 1937, they were shot. The artist's wife, Sofia Nalepynska-Boychuk, was executed in December of the same year as a "spy" and "the wife of the head of a nationalist terrorist organization."elle.ua
